Wearable Fabric Sculptures

H. Gene Thompson is a non-binary queer artist who works in soft sculpture, interactive sound and print media. Their wearable work is made up of colorful and discomforting shapes working both as membranes to be resisted against and barriers to be broken through, both separating and connecting people. Their work
explores human connectivity to one another and to our environment, holding a space that challenges social boundaries and reframes our everyday interactions. Thompson tours this work nationally; performing unsettling images to distort the state of consciousness people assume is stable.
